Cyan AG, intelligent cybersecurity and BSS/OSS platform services provider and UNIFI, cloud telecommunications provider, have announced a strategic partnership to accelerate the delivery of enhanced cybersecurity protection for clients across the globe. The move aims to address critical market needs as cybercrime is set to cost both businesses and individuals £7,9 trillion by 2025. The collaboration also sees the expansion of cyan’s global footprint with offices being launched in the US. As part of the agreement, UNIFI Group Companies will distribute cyan’s cybersecurity solutions to its worldwide clientele and offer network users an advanced level of protection. Through its subsidiaries, WIS Telecom & UNIFI Communications, UNIFI Group serves over 250 mobile operators, international carriers, ISPs located in over 130 countries. With the accelerated global adoption of the Internet, predicted to reach 7.5 billion users by 2030, the need for a more robust risk assessment and consumer protection also arises.

The world’s largest building society has confirmed moving its member website to Microsoft Azure. The migration was designed, built, and released by Nationwide’s Cloud team in collaboration with Contino, a digital transformation consultancy, to further enhance its website’s already solid security features whilst providing more reliability and stability to its customers. With more than 16 million members in its building society and being the second-largest mortgage provider in the UK, Nationwide opted to implement Cloud technology to provide the most effective level of service to its members whilst laying the foundations for further innovation. It was confirmed to be Nationwide’s first application hosted on the Microsoft Azure platform.

IT news #3: Worst internet security threat in decades wreaks havoc.

Experts have warned that hundreds of millions of devices could potentially be at risk after a recently discovered flaw that is believed to be the worst internet security risk in decades. Hackers are attempting to exploit critical, zero-day vulnerabilities hundreds of thousands of times. It is known as Log4j, with cybersecurity experts struggling to stop the spread. The critical issues were discovered in Log4j, a Java library used for recording error messages in applications, and devices using versions 2.0 to 2.14.1 and connected to the internet are exposed to the flaw. It is known that a large number of popular devices and products use Log4j, including the Java version of Minecraft that recently fell victim to the exploitation of this critical vulnerability, PC gaming service Steam also uses the platform along with Apple’s iCloud service used by iPhone, iPad and Mac owners to store critical data in the Cloud.

IT news #4: AWS launches new region in the Asia Pacific.

With the newly launched region of Jakarta, Indonesia, there are now ten active AWS regions in the Asia Pacific. Jakarta is already home to an Amazon CloudFront edge location, with two new AWS Direct Connect locations. It was announced, as of December 2021, with the launch of the latest region, the AWS Asia Pacific region is the tenth active region in the Asia Pacific and mainland China, following capitals like Beijing, Hong Kong, Mumbai, Ningxia, Osaka, Seoul, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo. Amazon Web Services now supplies 84 availability zones spread across 26 geographic regions worldwide. The company has also announced plans to expand and launch availability zones and regions in Australia, Canada, India, Israel, New Zealand, Spain, Switzerland and the United Arab Emirates. The new area located in Jakarta is identified by the API name ap-southeast-3, which allows the use of C5, C5d, I3, I3en, M5, M5d, R5, R5d, and T3 instances for software applications.
